Learning outcomes:

  • Identify the range of library resources available

  • Navigate the library’s online catalogue and discovery tools to locate resources

  • Apply effective keyword searching, Boolean operators, and filters to refine search results in library databases.

  • Evaluate the credibility, relevance, and scholarly value of information sources for academic assignments.

  • Access online resources remotely using institutional authentication systems (e.g., proxy server or single sign-on).

  • Retrieve full-text articles and request materials through interlibrary loan or document delivery services

  • Recognise and apply principles of academic integrity, including proper citation practices to avoid plagiarism.

  • Locate subject-specific research support, such as liaison librarians, subject guides, and workshops.

  • Demonstrate the ability to independently identify and use appropriate library resources for a specific research topic or assignment.
