The Wits Libraries will host two dynamic pre-conference workshops in October 2026 at the LIASA Conference, 2026 hosted in Sandton, designed to strengthen professional capacity and advance institutional impact across the research and heritage sectors.

1. Research Visibility and Impact (Research Librarians) This workshop will focus on strategies and tools that empower research librarians to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and measurable impact of scholarly outputs. Participants will engage with frameworks for open science, research profiling, and metrics, while exploring practical approaches to amplify institutional and continental research presence in global knowledge ecosystems.

2. Hands-on and Familiarisation with Advanced Digitisation Equipment for Libraries, Museums, Archives, and Records Management.

This technical workshop will provide participants with direct, practical exposure to advanced digitisation technologies. Attendees will gain hands-on experience with equipment and workflows that support preservation, access, and innovation in libraries, museums, archives, and records management. The session will highlight best practices for integrating digitisation into institutional strategies, ensuring sustainability and alignment with international standards.
